Use this page to download MatchMaker Mushrooms of the Pacific Northwest Version 2.2.1
If you want to download the program to your own computer for use without a CD, choose "Download Program Free for Hard Drive" above. In you want to download the files that would appear on a MatchMaker CD, choose "Download Program Free to Make CD".

The downloaded file is 0.5-0.6 gigabytes (20 minutes to 2 hours) and the program takes 0.6-0.7 gigabytes on your hard drive. The program was written for Windows PC. It has been able to run on a Mac computer with the Windows simulator Parallels. Now for the first time there is a version that runs on a Mac computer without the need to buy a simulator program.

MatchMaker is a program to help identify mushrooms of the Pacific Northwest. It contains a database of over 4000 descriptions of gilled and nongilled mushrooms. There is an interface for entering mushroom characteristics to find species that fit those characteristics. There are about 5700 illustrations of over 2200 species, from 170 different photographers.

It is a non-profit educational project, downloadable for free. If download is not possible, CDs may be obtained free from Ian Gibson (see e-mail address and mailing address below).

The earliest versions of the program were available in 1999. Version 1.3 was completed in August 2008. Version 2.0, which added the ability to enter characters of nongilled mushrooms, was completed in 2010. Version 2.1 (2012) integrated the gilled and nongilled programs. Version 2.1.1 was completed in August 2014.
Version 2.2 was completed in October 2014.
Version 2.2.1 is the current version and was completed in February 2015.
